Welcome from the OSS Director

Dear Fellow International Students,

On behalf of the Overseas Student Services committee I would like to welcome all of you freshmen to Monash Caulfield. And for all returning students, I hope you had a great break!

The OSS committee is made up of International Students from all over the world. You have chosen us to represent you and we are keen to do our best. However, in order for us to carry out our role effectively, we need as much input as we can get from you. If you have any matter that you would like to bring up, please contact any of my committee members or me. You can do so in person, on the phone or via e-mail. We are here to represent you, so please do not hold back.

I hope that you will support all our activities and that of MONSU Caulfield. By doing so, yet again, you will help us to help you!

Wish you all a great year ahead!

Kind Regards,

Param Artputhanathan

What is OSS?

Overseas Student Service (OSS) is a student-run department formed under Monash University Student Union (MONSU) since 1990 at both Caulfield and Peninsula campuses. Being a representative body for all international students on campus, OSS exists to look after their interest and welfare, so as to better address their needs in unity.

How Do I Become an OSS Member?

If you are an international student, you are already an OSS member! All international students currently enrolled in Monash University on both Caulfield and Peninsula campuses have access to our membership services and facilities. Moreover, you don't need to fork out a single cent to become our member. There is simply nothing to lose, but everything to gain!

What Do I Get From OSS?

There are a whole lot of services that are just waiting for you, just to name a few. We've got our very own lounge located in serenity on campus (S2.36), an ideal place for you to relax and meet up with peers over a cup of complimentary tea or coffee. Opened Monday to Friday from 11a.m. to 5p.m., the OSS lounge provides microwave and fridge facilities for your meal convenience. Also, keep updated with what's happening back in your country with our selected foreign newspapers and magazines.

Having problems in academic work? Feel unfairly discriminated? Talk to us! OSS works closely with other departments in the university with regard to language assistance, accommodation, counseling, and grievance procedures for sexual, academic and racial discrimination. OSS also acts as a referral service to various other services provided by the university and external organisations.
