Women's

The women’s officer acts as a point of contact and representative for female MONSU Caulfield students.


The importance of this role is to provide information about current issues and services, while continually liaising with students about their concerns. The role recognises and works to provide aid for those who feel gender disadvantaged, highlights the importance of being a woman, and provides a source of information regarding childcare, parenting, and family services.


If you have any questions, problems, or queries, please contact the women’s officer on womens@monsucaulfield.org.au, or drop in to the Student Council office located on the 2nd floor in S Block. All contact will be treated with utmost confidentiality and privacy.

Orientation Semester 2

Semester two orientation activities to orientate new students to Monash University Caulfield. 

Caulfield Women's Networking and Support Group

Each month, the Caulfield Women's Networking and Support Group hosts an event to promote women's support on campus.

Below are the dates for the upcoming meetings:

Self Defense Workshop

Coming up in Semester 2, we will be running a Self-Defense workshop in conjunction with the Taekwondo Club. The aim of the event will provide attendees with some insight in to the mental strategies and physical skills needed to deal with potential or real violent threatening situations.

Senator Troeth's Visit to Monash University

During the 'Sex it Up' sexual awareness week, Monash University Caulfield had the privilege of listening to Senator Judith Troeth speak about the abortion pill, RU486. In particular, Senator Troeth discussed the campaign, its progress and its impact. This presentation highlighted the impact on women of having unwanted pregnancies whilst studying at University. Furthermore, the presentation gave an opportunity to enhance awareness and reduce perceived stereotypes of the RU486 campaign.

Self Defense Workshop

As part of the sexual awareness week, the Taekwondo club gave a brief self-defense demonstration. Stay tuned to find out details of the full-length course to occur in Semester 2 2007.

Sex It Up - Week 7

A week of activities that promoted sexual awareness and exploration, followed up with the dress-up costume-themed party at the Gryph.

Caulfield International Women's Day Lunch

The International Women’s Day Lunch at the Caulfield Racecourse was held on Thursday, March 8th 2007 with Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon as the guest speaker to the event. The event was a huge success with approximately 270 people attending the event which was held at the Caulfield Racecourse. Commissioner Nixon's speech was an an inspirational account of her rise to the top of her career and the challenges she faced along the way.

Women's Survey Results

A survey was given out to all those partaking in the Champagne Brunch. This questionnaire challenged opinions about the need for women's and/or men's officers on campus, as well as the debate over having a women's lounge.

Campus Walk-Around

Student representatives from MONSU Caulfield went around campus to highlight areas that lacked sufficient lighting in the interest of safety on campus. Download a copy of the report below.

Self Defense Workshop

Campagne Brunch

The champagne brunch held in September was a great opportunity for students and staff alike to get a free breakfast while sharing their opinions and views about women's issues.
